Varsity Football Team Looks to Bounce Back in 2026

The varsity football team battled through much adversity throughout the season to salvage a 2-6 record after starting 0-6. Jack Hurley ’27 thought during the season that, “We learned a lot about ourselves this season, learned that we can battle through a lot, and stay focused with our goals in mind, and I think that allowed us to finish the season well.”

However, the slow start to the season was not all bad. To open the season, BH gave a talented St. Paul’s School a valiant effort, leading early in the first quarter before the game slipped out of their grasp in the second half. Additionally, the team put up an incredibly spirited effort against a highly talented Tabor Academy team, holding Tabor to their second-lowest score of the season while visibly frustrating their four-star quarterback. Following another good battle against a very talented Milton team, it felt like another game was slipping away from Belmont Hill against Lawrence Academy. However, a gritty effort and thrilling comeback, where BH overcame a 22-point third-quarter deficit, which was capped off by a 36-yard game-winning kick by Dylan Casillo ’26, gave the team its first win of the season. They carried this momentum from their second half of the Lawrence game to a 49-24 victory over Trinity Pawling in their final game of the season.

In addition to their team’s success, many players received individual honors. Nick Fiumara ’26, Trey Clayton ’26, and Griffin Vail ’26 were named to the All NEPSAC Class B first team. Furthermore, Réis Little ’26, Dylan Casillo ’26, Cam Kelly ’26, Ky-Mani Monteiro ’27, Michael Zapach ’27, Ajani Kromah ’27, and Jack Conway ’28 were all members of the second team. Finally, Rily Castillo ’26, Leopold Kuehberger ’26, Marcus Griffin ’26, and Declan Curtin ’26 received honorable mentions. The Panel would like to congratulate the football team on their perseverance, grit, and success this season.
