The Varsity and JV Cross Country teams both had exceptional seasons this past year. In the first race of the season, the Bobcat Invitational, JV placed second overall and Varsity placed 4th, with Will Trautz ’27 coming in first place and breaking the course record with an impressive time of 16:09.9. The team finished 12-1 in ISL races over the fall.
At the ISL Championships, for the first time in many years, both races were won by Belmont Hill students, with Jack Good ’27 winning the JV race and Will Trautz ’27 winning the Varsity race for the second year in a row. The JV team placed second and placed 5 runners in the top 15: Riley Marth ’27, Pierce Courtney ’28, Babikir Saeed ’26, Colin Grierson ’29, and Jack Good ’27. The Varsity team also captured the second-place award, with 4 boys in the top 21 runners: Yamin Ibrahim ’27, Eita Fuse ’27, Fitz Courtney ’26, and Will Trautz ’27.
The varsity team finished in 8th place overall at the NEPSAC D1 Championship, with Will Trautz ’27 coming in fourth place in the varsity race, and Babikir Saeed ’26 coming in 12th place in the JV race. Many boys earned All-League and All-NEPSAC awards, with Will Trautz ’27, Fitz Courtney ’27, Eita Fuse ’26, and Yamin Ibrahim ’27 all receiving All-ISL honors, Fitz Courtney ’26 receiving All-NEPSAC honorable mention, and Will Trautz ’27 receiving All-NEPSAC.
At the Fall Sports Awards Chapel, Yamin Ibrahim ’27 and Declan Woolbert ’27 earned the Most Improved prize, Will Achtmeyer ’26 and Fitz Courtney ’26 both received the Henry B. Sawyer Sportsmanship Award, and Will Trautz ’27 received the Cross-Country Award, the ISL Cross Country MVP Award, and the Globe All-Scholastic Award, in recognition of his accomplishment in breaking a total of 3 course records.
