Varsity Baseball 11-2 Halfway Through Season

With the halfway point of the season already passed, the varsity baseball team is heating up in hopes that it can obtain its fourth straight ISL title.  The team boasts an 11-2 record and still controls its own destiny for at least a share of the ISL title.  The highlight wins so far have been over a high-powered Worcester Academy, Roxbury Latin, St. Seb’s, Milton Academy, and Lawrence Academy. Led by three senior captains, the team is hitting its stride both offensively and defensively.  Charlie McConnell has an outstanding 23 stolen bases and has yet to be caught stealing.  Jack Wilhoite leads the team with three home runs including a clutch three-run bomb against St. Seb’s.  Benny Wanger has been lights out on the mound giving up only one earned run in 29 innings while striking out 36 batters.

Up and down the line-up, everyone is competing, making it tough for even the ISL’s best pitchers to have lasting outings.  The junior trio of Austin Masel, Christian Faggas, and AJ DiFillipo is also making an impact at the plate and in the field.  Behind the dish, Robert Caputo has been incredible while also spraying hits all over the field with the bat, and the same goes for right fielder Noah Levine and second baseman Robbie Cronin.  The battle for another ISL championship will be extremely difficult as always; however, the varsity baseball squad looks poised to make a serious run for the four-peat, a testament to the hard work of the players and coaches Grant, Feeley, O’Leary, and Houser.
