Spring Sports Chapel

On Thursday May 21, the Belmont Hill community gathered in the Hamilton Chapel to celebrate yet another successful athletic season. The time was spent honoring team accomplishments, individual accomplishments, and ISL and New England honors.

Main highlights included the recognition of Mr. McAlpin’s retirement, after over 40 years of service to Belmont Hill and the Fifth Baseball Team. After a round of applause, Mr. McAlpin shouted “Play Ball!”, his voice echoing through the chapel, drawing a laugh from the crowd.

To start, team captains announced Varsity letter winners, followed by team by team awards, and then individual honors. Trophies were presented by James Chaytors ’28, Captain of the Sailing team, and although the Golf team shared
first place in the regular season, they let Tabor Academy take home the trophy, although they did tie for first place.

Teams from Seventh Grade all the way to Varsity performed exceptionally well, with winning records coming from lots of teams. At the varsity level, teams performed exceptionally. Varsity teams finished with two ISL championships,
one state championship in Sailing, and winning records in nearly every sport.

After recognizing individual honors, Mr. Schneider played a video on the big screen, which displayed the achievements and dedication of Belmont Hill Athletics. From the athletes to the coaches, it accurately represented what Belmont Hill is all about. The nvideo talked about what being an athlete for Belmont Hill means, and theresponsibilities that come with it. It demonstrated the precedent of hardwork and dedication, and that playing for Belmont Hill means that you are going to give it your all, and that you play for your teammates and coaches.

This assembly in the Chapel not only recognized the accomplishments of boys from Form I to Form VI, but set a mark for the boys next year to try and conquer. The Panel congratulates all teams for their accomplishments this past spring.
