This past Friday, Belmont Hill honored the scholastic accolades of its students in the annual Cum Laude Chapel. Mr. Schneider opened with comments about how at its core, Belmont Hill is an academic institution, and as a result should praise its students’ accomplishments of intellect. Mr. Schneider congratulated honor roll recipients, AP Scholars, as well as National Merit honorable mentions. The school had two National Merit semi-finalists this year: Nicholas Daley ‘19 and Matthew Smith ‘19. Mr. Schneider then announced the admission of eight senior boys into the prestigious Cum Laude society: Nicholas Daley, John High, Robert Griffin, Peter Wade, Colin Braun, William Lafarge, Ben St. Peters, and Julian Wambach. The chapel closed with a talk from Mr. Bland, headmaster at Milton Academy and former Belmont Hill teacher, whose talk centered around the idea of practicing humility and remaining grounded throughout your life, despite your accomplishments.
