iL Casale and Comella’s Reviews

iL Casale

Five minutes. Not twenty, or thirty. Just five minutes is how quickly a Belmont Hill student can go from a long day at school to indulging in Italian heaven. Indeed, iL Casale has been a staple in the culinary scene of Belmont since 2009 and is a popular option for residents. The restaurant prides itself on their authentic, traditional Italian cuisine with a modern take. Their menu includes appetizers, salads, pasta, main dishes, and drinks.

Along with their consistent plates, iL Casale boasts of their Catch of the Day, Cut of the Day, and the Ferrari, the chef’s tasting menu. What sets them apart from their competitors is that all of their pasta is made fresh in the restaurant. The homemade aspect of their pasta is evident in their unique creations, such as the popular butternut squash ravioli. Another customer favorite is the pork meatballs.

iL Casale’s vast selection ensures that anyone’s palate will be satisfied; they offer both gluten-free and vegan options. Personally, our favorite dishes were the pork meatballs, the crispy calamari, and the tagliatelle alla bolognese. The seasoned and savory tastes along with the graceful plating cannot be found at other dining experiences. Also, customer service was considerate and pleasant. The vibe was accentuated by the dim lighting. Overall, the casual and relaxing setting made for a great night.

Although iL Casale only receives 3.5 stars on Yelp, and some critics find the menu excessively pricy, we would encourage the entire Winsor community to try it out! We are confident that the restaurant would be perfect for family dinners, dinner parties with friends, and more. The Banner does not take responsibility for any addiction to their meatballs!

Comella’s

On a crisp sunny morning in the month of February, I faced a serious dilemma. Although I had a bucket load of essays to write and flashcards to study, I was hungry. I simply set out my priorities and walked to Comella’s in Belmont. Its convenient location and bright atmosphere could and should never be overlooked by any customer. The variety of options is just as striking, from veal parmigiana to a classic cheese pizza.

However, it proposed an even bigger predicament – I had to choose one option. Available in a timely manner and a fitting size for the price, the lasagna did not fracture my expectations. The home-cooked Italian food is certainly perfect for those still lamenting the canceled Italy trip. Passed down recipes for three whole generations, the options have certainly evolved creating both vegetarian and gluten-free options. In addition, the pizza options include “liberty choice,” allowing the customer to put as many toppings available.

Trip advisor certainly agrees with my high praise, as Comella’s has an average of five stars in several locations. The service is efficient and the employees are polite, extremely helpful, and truly experienced with the product, as well as customer etiquette. Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and would suggest people should go beyond pizza and explore Comella’s extensive menu.
